He thought he knew his family.
He was spectacularly wrong.
Fresh out of rehab and still finding his footing, Winston Clarke is summoned home to Hicksville, Indiana, by his formidable eighty-eight-year-old aunt, Darceline Hicks—a woman accustomed to getting exactly what she wants.
Darceline has spent a lifetime building an extraordinary family empire, and Winston was destined to inherit it. But before he can contemplate becoming the next Hicks family patriarch, he must survive the family itself: outrageous relatives, old resentments, buried histories, unexpected reunions, and enough dysfunction to make rehab look relaxing.
Then Darceline gives him a key.
What it unlocks leads Winston toward a family secret that has been hidden for generations—and forces him to question how much he truly knows about the people who raised him, the place he once called home, and even his own past.
Welcome home, Winston.
Your family has been waiting.
